GREAT FALLS - The University of Great Falls Lady Argonauts Basketball Team dropped their Second Frontier Conference Game to the visiting Skylights of Montana State University Northern 59-55 in front of an estimated 800 fans. MORE>

Price Takes Sixth at NAIA Outdoor Track & Field Championships
Marion, Ind. – University of Great Falls mid-distance runner Travis Price ended his sophomore season yesterday with a sixth place finish in the 800 meter run at the 2011 NAIA Outdoor Track and Field National Championships. The sophomore crossed in a time of 1:51.39 which earned him All-American honors. More>

Great Falls Track & Field Add Five Standouts
Great Falls, Mont. – The University of Great Falls head cross country and track and field coach Jim Brewer announced the signing of five standout student-athletes from around the region. The men’s program will add Alec Bofinger, David Reinhardt, Kristian Slater, and Ryan Rosenau, who all signed Frontier Conference letter of intents recently. Lady Argos Hold on in Cal Pac/Frontier Qualifying Tournament
Rocklin, Calif. – The University of Great Falls softball team outlasted Holy Names University today 14-12 in an elimination game of the California Pacific/Frontier Conference Qualifying Tournament. Great Falls dropped its first game of the tournament earlier to Simpson University 7-0. The tournament is set up in a double-elimination format. More>

Men's 4x800 Relay Team Qualifies for Nationals at Montana Open
Missoula, Mont. – It was another record setting weekend for the University of Great Falls track & field team as it competed in the Montana Open on Saturday. The team bettered six school marks and the men’s 4x800 meter relay qualified for the 2011 NAIA Outdoor Track & Field National Championships. The team of Ander Jayo, Jimmy Sliwa, Travis Price and Austin Stuchell ran a time of 7:48.59 to punch their ticket to the national meet which will be held in Marion, Indiana May 26-28. More>

Local Golf Pro Beard Named Assistant Golf Coach
Great Falls, Mont. – The University of Great Falls head golf coach Steve Silsby announced today the addition of Dudley Beard as assistant golf coach. Beard is the Head Golf Professional at Meadow Lark Country Club where he has held that position for 25 years. He has been a Class A member of the Professional Golf Association (PGA) of America for the same number of years. More>

Spokane, Wash. – The University of Great Falls track & field team travelled to the state of Washington this past weekend to compete against a tough field comprised of NCAA Division I, II, and III schools as well as NAIA. Great Falls, MT – The NAIA has announced the recipients of the 2011 Daktronics-NAIA Scholar-Athlete award for this year’s winter sports. The University of Great Falls had seven student-athletes named to this honor for men’s and women’s basketball and wrestling. KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) announced the 2010-11 Division I Men’s Basketball All-America Teams on Wednesday. The selections are made by the NAIA Men’s Basketball Coaches’ Association All-America Committee and comprises a First, Second, Third and Honorable Mention Team. Great Falls' Bruce Qualifies for Nationals in the Marathon
Billings, Mont. – On Saturday, Rocky Mountain College hosted the second annual Battlin’ Bear Half-Marathon which was a national qualifying event for the marathon for the 2011 NAIA Outdoor Track & Field National Championships. Not only did University of Great Falls sophomore Christina Bruce win the race, her time of 1:30:55 eclipsed the “A” qualifying standard by two minutes. More>

Argos Fare Well in First Outdoor Track & Field Meet
Spokane, Wash. – The University of Great Falls track & field team competed in their first outdoor meet of the season at Spokane Falls Community College on Saturday. The team set 11 new school records led by senior Petey Davis who set new standards in the long jump at 4.80 meters, the triple jump at 10.24, and the javelin with a throw of 24.54. More>

Lady Argos Take Black Hills State Three Games to One
Spearfish, S.D. – The University of Great Falls softball team improved their season record to 13-11 after travelling to take on the Yellowjackets of Black Hills State University on Saturday and Sunday. The Lady Argos swept the Jackets on day one, winning both games 6-3. The two teams would split on Sunday as Great Falls fell 4-8 in game one and then came back to win the second of the double-header, 13-5. More>

Whitefish, Mont. - Frontier Conference commissioner Kent Paulson announced the 2010-2011 all-conference men’s basketball team, as well as individual award winners today. Brandon Brown of Montana Western was named the Player of the Year. Byago Diouf of Carroll College was named Defensive Player of the Year. Jake Orchard of Westminster College was named Newcomer of the Year and Marcel Towns of the University of Great Falls was selected Freshman of the Year. Whitefish, Mont. - Frontier Conference commissioner Kent Paulson announced the 2010-2011 all-conference women’s basketball team, as well as individual award winners last night. Taesha Higbee of Montana Tech and Jasmine Stohr of Lewis-Clark State College were named Co-Players of the Year. Callie Kautzmann of Rocky Mountain College was named Newcomer of the Year. Kenna Reiter of Lewis-Clark State College was named Defensive Player of the Year and Sammi Bignell of Montana Western was named Freshman of the Year. Coach of the Year honors went to J.D. Geneva, Ohio – University of Great Falls sophomore Travis Price ran in the 800 meter finals today at the NAIA Indoor Track and Field National Championship held at the GaREAT Sports Complex. Price earned sixth place as he finished in a time of 1:53.94 and captured All-American honor. More>

Two Argo Wrestlers Crowned National Champions: Team Takes Fourth
Cedar Rapids, Iowa – With four wrestlers in the finals of the 2011 NAIA Wrestling National Championship, it was guaranteed that the University of Great Falls squad would take home at least one title with the finalists in the 165 pound weight class being Argos Ross Mosher and Noah Hatton. Argo Wrestlers Move Up to Fifth Heading into Last Day
Cedar Rapids, Iowa – The University of Great Falls wrestling team moved into fifth place at the conclusion of the second day of the NAIA National Championships at the U.S. Cellular Center. The team was able to make the big jump thanks in part to the excellent performances during day two. All four wrestlers still alive in the championship brackets were victorious and advanced to the finals tomorrow. More>

Great Falls Wrestlers Hold Ninth Place After Day One
Cedar Rapids, Iowa – The University of Great Falls wrestling team won five of its first 12 matches at the 2011 NAIA Wrestling National Championships. The 54th annual event held at the U.S. Cellular Center in Cedar Rapids saw the Argos off to a slow start before 141 pounders Anthony Varnell and Myles Mazurkiewicz picked up wins for the squad. Mazurkiewicz’s win came by a 10-0 major decision. More>

Great Falls 4 x 800 Meter Relay Team Finishes 10th
Geneva, Ohio – The University of Great Falls indoor track team traveled four student-athletes to the GaREAT Indoor Sports Complex to participate in the 2011 NAIA Indoor Track and Field National Championships starting today. The UGF men’s 4 x 800 meter relay team consisting of Ander Jayo, Travis Price, Jimmy Sliwa, and Austin Stuchell (all sophomores) went into the competition ranked 12th in the nation. More>

Bulldogs Roll Past Men's Basketball
Dillon, Mont. – After coming off of the biggest win in recent history, the sixth-seeded University of Great Falls men’s basketball team was looking for its second upset in as many games. However, the third-seeded University of Montana Western Bulldogs had a different idea as they defended their home court in opening round action of the Frontier Conference Tournament on Tuesday night. Salt Lake City, Utah – Going into the conference tournament as the eighth-seed, the University of Great Falls women’s basketball team did not let that dictate their style of play. As they have done throughout the entire season, the Lady Argos hung tough with the No. 8 team in the nation and one-seed in the Frontier Conference tournament, Westminster College, before eventually falling 57-67 on Tuesday night. Great Falls, Mont. – The University of Great Falls men’s basketball team led by 15 at half but could not maintain the momentum in the second and fell to the Warriors of Lewis-Clark State College tonight, 70-71. The Argos led by one with fewer than 20 seconds to play but a costly turnover gave the ball to Lewis-Clark State who took the lead on the ensuing play. Billings, Mont. – In their second overtime game in three contests, the University of Great Falls men’s basketball team secured the conference sweep of Rocky Mountain College with an 83-77 win over the Bears. Trailing, 37-33 at half, senior guard Lukas Hambsch hit a three-pointer with a second left in regulation to send the game into overtime tied at 72 apiece. More>

Billings, Mont. – Lady Argos’ Kezia Ford and Sarah Sciascia shot lights-out as each put up 18 points to lead the University of Great Falls women’s basketball team to a 69-65 win over Rocky Mountain College. Men's Basketball Forces Overtime but Falls to No. 19 Bulldogs
Great Falls, Mont. – The University of Great Falls men’s basketball team did just about everything they could to knock off the 19th ranked University of Montana Western Bulldogs but fell short in overtime. Cedar Falls, IA – The University of Great Falls wrestling team was knocked out early of the 2011 NWCA/Cliff Keen National Dual tournament on Saturday, suffering a close loss to Southern Oregon University, 18-22, in the consolation bracket.
