Paul Zazenski enters into his second year at the helm of the UGF men's soccer program for the 2011-2012 season. In the 2010 season, Zazenski led the Argonaut’s to their first ever conference tournament championship and an overall season record of 16-4-1. The Argonaut’s most memorable win of 2010 came in the first round of the NAIA National Tournament against the then #2 ranked Simon Fraser, winning 1-0. This win solidified a spot for the Argonaut’s in the final 16 of the NAIA National Tournament in Orange Beach, Alabama. UGF faced a solid Oklahoma Science and Arts squad in the round of 16. After falling behind 2-0 at halftime, the Argonaut’s clawed back to force extra time only to lose 4-3 and end the 2010 season. During his first season as coach, Zazenski coached 4 All-Conference players, 2 All-Region, 1 Conference Player of the Year, and 1 NAIA All-American. Zazenski was then named Conference Coach of the Year and Region Coach of the Year and was 1 of 8 national candidates for NAIA National Coach of the Year. Zazenski takes the most pride in coaching 7 Academic All-Conference performers as well as 2 Academic All-Americans in the 2010 season.
In 2009, Zazenski was the lead assistant under then head coach Tim Brooks. The pair of Brooks and Zazenski led the Argo’s to a 15-5 record and an appearance in the conference tournament finals.
Before coming to UGF, Zazenski helped coach a very successful Southwest Guilford High School team to three straight state playoff appearances in North Carolina.
Zazenski played four years of collegiate soccer at the NCAA Division I level for the University of North Carolina-Greensboro. While at UNC-G, he was a part of the Spartans' back-to-back Sweet Sixteen appearances in the NCAA Tournament. During his sophomore season, Zazenski helped UNC-G compile an 18 game winning streak and a national ranking of number one for most of the season. Zazenski played along-side three NCAA Division I All-Americans.
Growing up in Atlantic Beach, NC, Zazenski was a member of the state championship Greensboro Soccer Club. He played three years for the North Carolina ODP state team while making the Region III ODP pool and helping his North Carolina team to a runner-up finish in the ODP National Championship.
Zazenski is currently the Director of Coaching for the local Electric City Soccer Club and head coach for a traveling high school showcase team Montana United. He is also completing his Master’s degree while coaching here at UGF. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in exercise sports and science from UNC-G.
